Spec Review / buyer worksheet
Awning custom specification review
A controlled awning brief separates requested values from supplier-confirmed details. Use this worksheet to review measurable configuration, sample scope and exact-item evidence before approving a purchasing decision.

Four groups to freeze in the request revision
| Review group | Write in the buyer brief | Ask the offered manufacturer |
|---|---|---|
| Configuration | Awning type, width × projection, units in in/cm, outdoor use and mounting context. | Identify the offered model, dimension tolerance and installation interfaces. A photograph cannot confirm fit. |
| Materials and construction | Shell and frame materials, fabric weight where relevant, color and finish expectations. | Give material and coating identity, seam or profile detail and exact-item test evidence relevant to the proposed construction. |
| Quantity and pack basis | Pieces or sets by size/color, included brackets, controls, carry pack and packaging needs. | Confirm minimum order quantity by variant, pack ratio, carton dimensions, gross weight and excluded parts. |
| Commercial and delivery scope | US destination, requested timing, optional currency budget per unit or whole order. | State sample charges, tooling, freight terms, validity and destination exclusions. Keep unknown costs open. |
Decision note: a 10-set order with two different widths needs a stated quantity for each width. This is a brief-writing example, not an available configuration, minimum order quantity or supplier offer. Drawings can be exchanged during follow-up; this form does not accept uploads.
Review inquiry options, the responsibility matrix and the full buyer brief, then use the existing inquiry form below.
Move up the evidence ladder without skipping a step
Stated requirement
Record the exact requested dimension, material, quantity and intended application. A product-family standard is a question to investigate, not evidence of exact-model certification.
Document review
Request report identity, manufacturer, model, revision, test method and conditions. Check whether the report covers the offered material and assembled system. A generic certificate does not close an item-specific question.
Sample check
Agree a review plan before paying for a sample: measure width and projection, compare approved swatch and finish, verify parts and record assembly observations. Ask who performed any test and on which sample; do not infer performance from visual inspection.
Order confirmation
Link the approved sample and drawing to the quote revision and packing list. Resolve substitutions and scope exclusions in writing. Installation, exposure and local requirements remain separate approval responsibilities.
A high-end preference can justify requesting more finish choices or service detail; budget sourcing can reduce optional features. Compare that trade-off against the same material, components, freight scope and acceptance steps. An attractive unit amount alone cannot establish a lower total procurement cost.
